Live stream of North Macedonia vs. England: response to the Three Lions' draw in the Euro 2024 qualification
England's last Euro 2024 qualifying match against North Macedonia ended in a draw, following another lackluster showing. After defeating Malta 2-0 on Friday, the Three Lions had high hopes for a better performance, but it was a frustrating evening for them.
They got a decent start and were passing with a little more zip and speed than they had last week. After only fifteen minutes, Declan Rice struck the woodwork, but the hosts gained confidence. Rico Lewis, making his senior squad debut, showed promise, but he let up a penalty kick to North Macedonia when a stray hand caused a VAR check while clearing an aerial ball out of his own box. Enis Bardhi scored the penalty. Jordan Pickford stopped it.
England trailed at the half but recovered well to win again. Jack Grealish was disqualified for offside as he appeared to have equalized. Following Harry Kane's entry into the game, the hosts conceded an own goal, but the Three Lions were unable to capitalize on their lead and win.
England's dismal Euro 2024 qualifying campaign comes to an end with a whimper
Towards the end of their disappointing Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, England struggled to a 1-1 draw in North Macedonia.
Last month, Gareth Southgate's team qualified for the German finals in the summer, and a forgettable draw in Skopje was at least sufficient to guarantee their spot among the top seeds for the December draw.
At the Tose Proeski Arena, debutant Rico Lewis had a night to forget after giving up a contentious penalty in the first half, which Jordan Pickford saved before Enis Bardhi scored the rebound.
Although Jani Atanasov scored an own goal and captain Harry Kane came off the bench to contribute to the equalizer, England were unable to find a winner.
"Difficult game, we knew it would be and it was tough against a decent side playing on a pitch that's difficult to play our style of football," England forward Harry Kane said Channel 4 following the game.
"We conceded an easy penalty that put us behind 1-0 against the flow of play. I always strive to help the team, whether it's for 10 or 90 minutes, so it was fantastic to go back on the field. Regaining a goal was crucial for us, and it's unfortunate that we weren't able to get a second.
"I'm fairly certain it was an own goal. We had the best chance of obtaining a second.
We played shoddy with the ball against Malta; today, we were dealt a bit of a sucker hit with the counterattack and a cheap penalty. We were up against a squad that most people thought we would beat five or six goals to none, but they took care of Italy in the World Cup qualifying round to eliminate them.
"The qualifying campaign has gone really well, for which we are really proud."
Regarding rookie Rico Lewis: "With and without the ball, I thought he was really good." I thought he was great, so it's unfortunate about the punishment, but he should be proud. He only has to keep putting in the effort, and I have no doubt that he will rejoin us.
Walker knocks out Elmas at the 87-minute mark as the North Macedonian forward tries to go along the left side. Elmas receives the short free kick and is on the same wing as him.
After swinging in a cross, he finds Nikola Serafimov, who topples the crossbar with a headed effort.
84 minutes in: Phil Foden is attempting to secure a victory for England. He's searching for willing runners while launching a lot of balls into the box. Bukayo Saka is one of them, and he nods absentmindedly across the post.
Gareth Southgate has already made three changes to the squad, substituting Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jack Grealish, and Saka.
For the last several minutes, Marcus Rashford, Kalvin Phillips, and Cole Palmer enter the game. Can they make a difference?
England 0–0 North Macedonia
Wow, 39 minutes. The ball is dinked into England's penalty area by the hosts. Rico Lewis nods the ball away and dives into the air to clear the threat.
Bojan Miovski follows after him as he jumps, colliding with Lewis' left hand, which swings downward as the adolescent clears the air. The referee should be sent to the monitor, according to VAR, because there was touch to the forward's face.
Six minutes in: Jack Grealish is attempting to evade danger in the latter third of the English pitch as Jani Atanasov leaves a bit too much on him. The Man City player releases pressure on the defense and gets a free kick for England.
North Macedonia won't hesitate to bring the game to England because they performed well against Italy in their previous match.

He studies the replays for a while before pointing to the location.
3 minutes: Near! When compared to the game against Malta, England's play already has more zip. Bukayo Saka brings the ball down the right side before sending it across the middle.
On the other side of the box, Declan Rice and Jack Grealish connect for a wonderful one-two, with Grealish coming in behind. He attempts to find Ollie Watkins with a short pass, but his touch deflects it out for a corner as he tries to turn it home at the near post.
Get going! England 0–0 North Macedonia
