Florida defeats Kentucky in overtime: three things to know and post-game conversation

On Wednesday night in Lexington, the Florida Gators defeated the Kentucky Wildcats 94-91 in overtime.

The undermanned Cats were off to a fast start. Kentucky was not at all slowed down by a new starting five. The defence performed admirably, allowing Kentucky to lead 41–36 going into the half.

There was back-and-forth after the interval. This match resembled the one from earlier this month, when the Gators and Cats repeatedly parried each other's blows. Neither team was able to complete the task in a timely manner this time. With three seconds left, Florida made a three-pointer to force overtime.

No Edwards, no DJ, and no issue (?)

It was surprise that Justin Edwards and DJ Wagner skipped this game. Edwards missed time due to a leg injury, and Wagner is experiencing problems with his ankle. As of right moment, the extent of the injuries is unknown.

Fortunately, the Cats continued to play without any hiccups. You may recall that Kentucky fell to UNC-Wilmington at home the previous time Wagner was not in the lineup. Obviously, a lot of people were anxious after the announcement that came 15 minutes before the tip.

Reed Sheppard, Antonio Reeves, Adou Thiero, Tre Mitchell, and Ugonna Onyenso made up John Calipari's starting lineup. Following his absence from Saturday's game against the Arkansas Razorbacks, Rob Dillingham returned. He contributed noteworthy minutes.
