Without some late drama, Pakistan wouldn't be the same. What counts, though, is that they crossed the finish line on a difficult pitch for the batters. Before the second ODI, the sides had just one day off. For now, that's all. Farewell!
Shaheen Afridi, captain of Pakistan: For me, it was a typical game. Nothing noteworthy. Our hitters deserve praise. They did a great job handling the way it twisted and swung in the second inning. batted incredibly effectively on a challenging surface. That's what always occurs (late drama). I'll endeavour to prevent that from happening again. We are grateful to the large number of people who attended the long-awaited international cricket match.
Matthew Breetzke | Captain of South Africa: Most likely, we were 20–30 runs short. We lost the game because we lost a lot of wickets. Lhuan-dre is a unique player with a promising future. Quinton is back as well. Many advantages. I'm proud of the bowlers because they battled back and made it to the final over. It doesn't occur frequently.
Player of the Match: Salman Agha I could have completed the game, thus it was my fault. I was anticipating dew today because it has always occurred during the Twenty20 matches we have played here. It was difficult without dew. It was reversing and rotating. We pursued this because of their collaboration (between Rizwan and him).
We simply wanted to form a partnership after losing two or three quick wickets. We were aware of our ample time. I simply wanted to play the ball according to merit. We simply discussed who would be in control when we needed runs.
11:02 p.m. local time: Pakistan completed the task, however it was a bit more theatrical than it needed to be. Before the last few overs, when a few late wickets produced unnecessary flutters, they had complete control of the chase. They put up 87 in just 15.2 overs thanks to a fantastic start from Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub against the new ball when it was seaming around a little.
And then Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha batted with a lot of maturity in the middle overs, notching up fifties and carrying on the good work done by the openers. There was plenty of assistance for spinners right through the match, and there wasn't any dew either, so it wasn't as if they had it easier. Just that their quality came through. Stat: This is the fifth successive win for Pakistan against South Africa in ODIs. This is also the highest successful chase at Faisalabad in ODIs.
Corbin Bosch to Naseem Shah, leg byes, one run, an appeal for LBW that is likely to go down leg, and they have successfully negotiated a leg bye. That will work. Shaheen begins his ODI captaincy with a victory as Pakistan wins the first ODI of this three-match series.
Right-handed batsman Naseem Shah reaches the crease at 49.3
W. Corbin From Bosch to Nawaz, out Captured by Fortuin! Oh, it's not finished yet! This length seemed to have caught Nawaz off guard. As Nawaz tries to push it through the on-side, it bangs into the pitch halfway down, climbs on him and balloons off the leading edge to backward point. The edge was discovered close to the shoulder of the bat. Nawaz c Fortuin b Corbin Bosch 9 (9) [6s-1]
That's out, Corbin Bosch to Nawaz! Captured!

Shaheen Afridi scores one run from Corbin Bosch's full toss outside off, but Shaheen finds it too easy and smashes it to the sweeper cover.
49.1 Corbin Bosch to Shaheen Afridi, two runs, hit past extra cover after a low full toss outside off
Returning to the attack, Corbin Bosch [6.0-0-29-1] will bowl the last over. Despite Linde's excellent prior over, they most likely chose Ferreira due to the left-handers in the centre. Alright, four are required.
